Only happens once a year for one day and our daughter loves it. We all go together (father and mother inlaw, sister and brother inlaw and their three kids) we do the activities (games, hayride) … City of Hamilton by-laws require that groups of 20+ people obtain a permit to hold a picnic or event within Confederation Beach Park. We finally made it to Battlefield Park in Hamilton where we braved the cold weather for some more photos. Everyone was in great spirits despite the cold! Long Description: This Grand Opening Plaque commemorated the Grand Opening of the Battlefield Park Pavilion in 2000. Battlefield Park is the home of the Battle of Stoney Creek National Historic Site of Canada and is the location of the annual Re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek. One of the first houses to be built in Stoney Creek, Battlefield House was the home of the Gage family from 1796 until 1835. During these settlement years of the early 19th century, James and Mary Gage cleared and worked the land with their ten children and became well-known for their warm hospitality.
